Kenthurst is a semi-rural suburb in Sydney, New South Wales. It is located 39 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district. The traditional owners of this land were the Darug people.
Kenthurst was first known as Little Dooral and later Little Dural. However, it was changed in 1886 after Charles Gibb, the main agitator in the public meeting, demanded that the suburb is given a more elegant title. “Kent Forest” was suggested, but didn’t become popular until “Kenthurst” was chosen. Kenthurst is derived from the English County of Kent and ‘’hurst” meaning a “woody hillock or clearing’". Click here for more information about the city of Kenthurst NSW
