What a treat. Comfortable very clean rooms. Staff were excellent they and always had a smile. The food was to die for, plus the wine list was very good, everything was really way better than was expected. We will go back for romantic dirty weekends

Great stay! Very convenient with the Sydney Brewery next door that has happy hour from 4 – 6pm each day with $5 schooners and wine and they also have $10 cocktails between 7 – 9pm each day. They need to ditch the buffet breakfast in these Covid times though. Ordering fresh would be much better.

Stayed here in 2013. Amazing apartment, spacious with all mod cons. Quiet, despite Southern Cross Drive close by. Staff were friendly, warm, and welcoming. I needed extra days, was done immediately. Easy access from almost anywhere. Great base if you plan to do anything in and around Sydney. I look forward to staying again, once lockdowns over. I highly recommend this place.

My friend lives here. He complained about the weak wall structure. But the rest is great. Good views, top-notch infrastructure, and access to a variety of facilities.

Just letting everyone know this is a COVID hotel/respite centre for those covid positive Sydney people who can’t quarantine at home or have just come out of hospital and still positive. It has been a COVID hotel for close to 18mths and the staff/medical people/police all walk around Zetland & in the shopping centre.

Hard to get anyone to answer the phone at reception. Tv doesn’t work, balcony doors don’t lock, shower head falls down and after a sleepless night of road works they wake you up with a fire drill.

Fine for one night and the apartments are huge. Looks lovely from the outside but as soon as you go in, it’s not very clean. Scuff marks over every wall and surface in the building. Bright white lighting everywhere.

Great place to stay! We had the two bedroom apartment and it was huge! Beds were very comfortable, location was great – walking distance to the local shops with a wide variety of restaurants. Only negative thing i have to say is the distance from the part of the building we were in to the entry/exit of the hotel was very long.

Beautiful hotel, very oldschool style, water pressure isn’t amazing but the quality for price is outstanding

Friendly, clean and a stones throw to Darlinghurst. Historical building with old world charm. Very comfortable bed, for the price of the room it was really good value. The water pressure could have been better but that was fine. Would stay again.

The motel is lovely , the rooms are great, the staff on reception are excellent and can’t do enough for customers , however the manager is offhand continually rude , has a bad attitude and his body language is that he doesn’t care about customers just there for money and to do very little what a shame

I really wanted to love this hotel, but unfortunately found it dated and less enjoyable than expected. If you are staying, all of the photos seem to show the premium upgraded queen room – it turns out the standard room is much smaller and has 2 twin beds. While the room was clean, the pool inside the building was very dirty and made the halls smell strongly of chlorine. In addition, no adapters are provided or available for loan – you must purchase for $20. We did love the location but probably would not be back for another stay.

I recently stayed at the Arts Hotel during a visit to St. Vincent’s Hospital for medical treatment. As a rural patient, traveling alone during the latest COVID lockdowns, they were incredibly accommodating and caring towards me. Every staff member that I had contact with went above and beyond, making a very stressful time that bit easier. I appreciate their service and care immensely and would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Came here on a Monday evening with a friend as this place is halfway between where we both live. It’s honestly everything you could want in a local pub. Cheap beers, good atmosphere (even when it’s empty), 80s rock playing in the background, and the bartender (she could be the boss but I’m not sure) took me back to a time that doesn’t exist any more. She was exceptionally warm, brought some complimentary chips around, kept our beers full and was just a genuinely lovely person. It’s hard for me to give this place any less than 5 stars just because of that experience.

I stayed at the Hughenden with my dog whilst travelling for work. The hotel is lovely and unique and for the most part I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is pet friendly, in so far that they allow your pet to stay, but they don’t really provide any other pet friendly facilities beyond that. For example, there is no grassy area on the hotel premise and you need to take your dog over to Centennial park to relieve themselves. As a solo female traveller, the idea of doing this at night made me pretty uncomfortable. Secondly, when booking you have to book a ‘pet-friendly’ room, which costs more than a standard room. I thought that this might mean that they provide a kennel, or dog bowl, or just a little more space for your furry friend, but this is not the case. I think if you are paying more than there should be something to show for it. If travelling without a pet it is great, if you have a pet this is just something to be aware of. Overall, a great stay.

Cute, quaint, dog friendly hotel, we had a room with a private little courtyard which was sweet. We would have hoped to have slightly more dog-friendly outdoor areas (struggled to find somewhere to take the dog for a wee, had to go out to the street) and we were a touch disappointed with breakfast: we were told we would get a voucher for a buffet breakfast and instead got $10 to use at the cafe (which didn’t get you much). All in all though, a pleasant stay. Would definitely come back again.

I love The Shakey because they have really cheap prices for food. For $16, you can get a fantastic 250g rump steak with chips, salad, and sauce. Other pubs would charge double for that!

The staff is friendly and polite. The service is fantastic. There are two levels of seating for small and large groups.

For your next pub visit, make sure the Shakey is high on your list.

Stayed the night and caught up with some fellow “Reschs Appreciation Society” lads over a nice cool delicious Reschs! Max behind the bar, polite and courteous, took my back up to the third level accommodation. We had dinner, mine being the Rump shouted by ‘Buck’ James McFarlain one of the RAS lads! Also met Xaiver (a family member who owns the pubs) who was a delight and eventually directed me for the ‘kick-on’ down to their sister pub the Strawberry Hills. There I met Polly who showed me around and introduced me to the locals, even a top chap who was their bouncer, a fellow Kiwi who schooled in Kelston Boys High, Auckland. This is where my wife taught for a number of years! Great hospitality from both venues with the staff absolute Top Shelf! Mike from Boorowa Irish Hotel

Customer care expectations should be adjusted to 1 star.

Me and my family wanted to travel to Australia and in order to get visa the expectation is that we book hotels in advance. However our visas were delayed and we knew we can’t make it. One month before our check-in date we called and explained the situation to the hotel. There was zero understanding from their side. They charged us the full amount.

When I book the 4-5 star hotels I always expect some common sense and understanding as part of their customer care. Unfortunately we didn’t get that.

When I first arrived to Sydney 2 years ago, this was the best hostel I could ever wish for! It had such a family vibe environment but since then I have visited several times and not had the same experience.

I even worked here at one point two years ago for a while and we had such a close staff team who were very helpful and friendly and everyone in the hostel was so inviting back then, everyone helped everyone get jobs, we had a days out everywhere with groups of 20-50 people.

I’m not sure what happened with all the management changes and new rules applied here. My phone is filled with so many photos of good memories that we shared here.

This hostel was such a good location, close to the park, close to the station, great coffee across the road at Dina’s cafe.

I’m sure if you looked far enough in the reviews you’ll find another review from myself going on about how good this place was at the time.
